1/500

Scale: – relationship between the dimensions of a drawing and the object represented by it.
– organization of sounds in a sequence long enough to define a mode, tonality, or some specific linear construction.

1/500 (part of the Trabalho de Mesa series) is a performance/installation that establishes a relationship with the city of Lisbon supported by a reduction in scale. Based on a network that connects different points of the city through sound, the piece proposes a listening situation in which the sound spatialization refers to the broad geographic context of the city. Sounds from various remote and distant places converge in a space that represents the city on a scale of 1/500 and are processed from elements developed in a graphic representation on a scale of 1/5000. The installation is manipulated at various moments, accumulating processes that relate sound to the distances between locations, and exploring the idea of scale reduction/construction.
