Music for Sax and Boxes is a 15 minutes piece for tenor saxophone, electronics, and four specially designed boxes. The boxes, of different sizes, have speakers attached, that emit the sounds of the live saxophone (as well as other pre-recorded and composed sounds). As the sound vibrates through the boxes, it is transformed by the physical properties of their size, shape and the volume of their internal space. The piece was originally written for Franziska Schroeder who also features in the recorded sounds or the tape part.

In June 2025 a new version was performed by Henrique Portovedo, for the World New Music Days Festival. This time, with a new set of wooden boxes, that contained small speakers (Gelenecs 8010) inside. Images of this version soon. Concert review here.
